Sebastian Carmine Ingrosso (born 21 April 1983) is a Swedish DJ and electronic dance music producer. He was also member of the DJ supergroup Swedish House Mafia, together with friends Axwell and Steve Angello.
Born in Nacka, Stockholm, Sweden, Ingrosso grew up in Stockholm, where he spent his teenage years in his choreographer father Vito Ingrosso’s studio learning how to make music. His first official remix was released on Mega Records in 1999.
He was ranked #26 in 2011 on DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJ list, and won the award for the highest new entry into the chart in 2009, a record beaten only by Deadmau5 into the 2008 Top 100 DJ list at #10. Sebastian Ingrosso is head of A&R for his own record label, Refune, which has pioneered many artists in recent years including AN21, Max Vangeli, Style of Eye and Alesso.
One would think that scaling the dizzy heights of the planet’s charts would be a career pinnacle. And for former Swedish House Mafia man Sebastian Ingrosso, it was extremely important. But better than all that, obviously, was writing the track ‘Roar’ for Mike and Sully from Monsters Inc prequel Monsters University.
In 2013, Ingrosso and his old chum Axwell became undisputed ‘Dads of the Year’. “We got the scene pretty early, it was still just two dimensional,” he says. “It was pretty cool. My kids are a little bit too young for it, but I will be a hero in a couple of years. They were really open with what they wanted us to do, so we just had fun.” Ingrosso also plays ‘proud dad’ to the likes of Alesso, who this year has gone stratospheric. “The boys are becoming men, understanding what it takes,” he says. “It’s the best emotional investment I’ve ever made.”
When the line up for this year’s V Festival was announced we nobody believed to see 2/3 of the Swedish House Mafia, Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso teaming up for a new chapter of dance mayhem in what doesn’t feel all that long since the supergroup disbanded. The Swedes were back under the guise of their new show Axwell Λ Ingrosso…and headlining MTV stage no less in Chelmsford last night (August 17).
