Thom Jongkind (aged 24) and Idir Makhlaf (aged 22), also called producer/DJ twosome Blasterjaxx in the music business, are two different characters with same soul. Despite of one is regularly conspicuous and enabling, alternate favours staying quietly out of sight – a reasonably high difference in character. On the other hand, there is one huge purpose behind the exceptional association between these two identities: their enthusiasm and adoration of music.
Blasterjaxx is known for his style – “Electro and progressive house”.
In 2010, Thom Jongkind, then working as Scalix chose to set up a DJ team with an alternate maker at the time. The venture was called Blasterjaxx. When it collapsed, Thom proceeded with the Blasterjaxx name himself. Jongkind had a couple of coordinated efforts with Idir Makhlaf, then working under the name Macosta. Makhlaf in the end joined Blasterjaxx and in 2012, the Reborn EP was released with D-Rashid containing two tracks: “Reborn” and “Where We Go” with Laidback Luke marking the tracks at his own particular mark Mixmash Records.
Shortly after, they mutually agreed on ending their collaboration as a duo and decided that Thom would continue with the Blasterjaxx label.
Although it already was a first-class Blasterjaxx year full of great news and highlights, things were getting more better on the 19th of October 2013- the day when Blasterjaxx entered the DJ Mag Top 100 best deejays in the world on #71. With this they are ranked in the most exclusive DJ list in the world with legends like als Avicii, Tiësto, Hardwell, David Guetta, Afrojack, Skrillex, Calvin Harris, Daft Punk, Laidback Luke, Kaskade, Sebastian Ingrosso, Steve Angello and a few more legendary names with the list.
Blasterjaxx single track “Faith” was reaching to good height in South Africa charts and finally settled with #1.
With the growing of their Dutch house at mesmerizing heights, in year 2013 they produced with Loud and Proud along with famous Billy The Kit which was signed under the owned label of Tiesto.
Many successes and milestones followed which resulted in the fact that Blasterjaxx are now seen as one of the most promising EDM artists in the world.
Despite of having frequent hits, releases and novelties, this is yet the beginning of Blasterjaxx. The right question to ask is not if they will break through, but when they will break through! Keep ears and eyes open people, because Blasterjaxx will be the prospective player of future EDM world.
